I
am a former US Marine and Air Force Reservist with a passion for
motorcycles and have been riding for almost 30 years, 16 of
those on Drag Bikes at various locations in the United States
and British Columbia. After two seasons racing as a
novice, I obtained my "expert"
rating with
the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association. That is a
major milestone in my life.
I'm known to my fellow forum friends as "MadManx". This
nickname comes from my fascination and passion for Real Road
Racing on the Isle of Man and in Ireland. It has been my dream
for almost 30 years to
visit the Isle of Man & Ireland and to participate in the Real Road
Races.
I have achieved one part of that dream with a visit to the Isle
of Man in July 2008. I also got a one-on-one tour and tutorial
on the TT course from my friend & team-mate Bill Callister and
got to see the racing up close and personal. It only "stoked
the fire" within me to get to the racing part of this dream.
Stay tuned, it's only a matter of time before you will see me
in real road races.
Another Tid-Bit:
My Story, in
short:
I have been
riding motorcycles since I was 14.
My father bought
me my first bike which was a '73 Suzuki TM400 motocross. Sweet! Thanks
Dad!
I learned to ride
street on his Honda CL360 & CB500T. I will always remember those days.
My first street bike was a '73 RD350 which I ended up tricking out.
How I miss that bike.
I started drag
racing bikes in 1980 and stopped in 1997 as I got burned out on it.
My true dream as
a teenager was to road race and go to the Isle of Man. I always read
stories about Mike Hailwood & Giacomo Agostini and would continually
daydream about being there. I am not a Manxman, but I have always felt
connected.
